BG MQ 20 SPIN REEL
BG MQ 20 SPIN REEL
The BG line from Daiwa has redefined what inexpensive excellence in heavy-duty spinning reels looks like. The 20 BG MQ was created by merging Monocoque Body (MQ) technology with the broad market appeal of BG.
By completely eliminating the typical two-piece body construction, Daiwa's Monocoque Body (MQ) is the single biggest change in spinning reel design. MQ reels have no side plates and a completely screwless body design, which reduces potential entry sites for water and filth while also improving overall body strength and rigidity.
MQ bodies are also substantially more compact than normal bodies due to their screwless design approach. Screws require material to grip to, which in classic body designs means increased overall size and mass. MQ reels can increase the internal space available by employing larger drive gears by replacing the side plate with a machined aluminium engine plate that screws directly into the reel body.
BG MQ has made significant improvements to practically every aspect of the reel design across the board. The drag has been improved in terms of maximum capacity as well as general smoothness. BG MQ's drag performance is unrivalled by the competition due to the extreme reduction in friction of the Carbon ATD drag.
The MQ body architecture not only provides the apparent benefits of a stronger and more compact body design, but it also improves gear durability by preventing drivetrain components from moving once placed inside a MQ body. The weather-sealing has also been greatly improved, with seals visible at many points throughout the reel. The BG MQ is designed to withstand the harshest of conditions.
The adoption of the Long Cast ABS (LC-ABS) spool design has also increased casting performance. The LC-ABS spool design enhances spool line flow. As a result, casting distances have increased across the board with both heavy and light lines.
Improvements have been made to the size of each reel throughout the BG MQ range to maximise their performance and overall attractiveness to each target market.
The drive gears on the BG MQ (2500-4000) are significantly larger than on the larger BG MQ (2500-4000). The Rigid Air Rotor design has been added to the 5000 and 6000 models, maximising robustness and attractiveness for mid-weight sportfishing applications. The MQ body provides tremendous benefits to larger size BG MQ from 8000-20000, with the leg and major body significantly enhanced in strength without adding weight.
